A guided meditation for visualizing your desires.

Visualization has always been an essential step in manifesting our dreams into reality. Seeing what we want clearly and specifically and holding the feelings of having them now can pave the way for us to bring thoughts to fruition.
I created this video a few years ago to aid myself in creating the life I'd imagined. It's a great tool for reaching a state of relaxation and letting go of doubts so that we may overcome the small voice in the backs of our minds that wants to keep reminding us of lack. That voice is fear and only serves to prevent us from attaining our goals.
I have learned that if I truly want something in my life I can have it easily. It's as simple as wanting a glass of water on a dry summer day, seeing yourself getting the glass out of the cabinet and filling it from the kitchen tap. Most times we have a thought of something we want, we don't question it. Getting it becomes as simple as walking to the kitchen and following through with the vision we held a few moments earlier.
Visualizing becomes harder to do the more we doubt in our ability to achieve something. Maybe we think we are too old, or we aren't in the best financial situation. It could be that we fear failing so much that we don't even dare to think of making our dreams a reality let alone walk towards them.
The more often we achieve things we never thought we could achieve, the easier it becomes- just as walking to the sink for that glass of water is. There is really no difference between a glass of water and a trip to Costa Rica. Once we make up our minds about what we want and how much we will move to get it we will always be able to reach anything we can imagine.
The trick is in wanting it. Really, truly aspiring to something. We've got to want something so much that nothing can get in the way. Wishing randomly for things isn't enough, we have to feel excited by the prospect of achieving the desired goal. When we can become emotionally involved on a positive level it is a fact that we can make it appear in our lives.
At times we can get hung up on the 'how' of a thing, because if we can't see the steps we don't know where to go. Let's imagine we are in bed and it's dark. The bathroom is there and we need to get to it, but we can't see the obstacles in the room or how to traverse them in this darkness. Do we need to know how to get to that bathroom before we start trying? No, we just feel our way to it and the reason is because of the need, the desire, the inner prompting to get there.
Our dreams are just as important to our internal drives but we allow fear and uncertainty to keep us pinned down. We tell ourselves it can't be done, we'll be foolish, we'll get hurt, we'll be disappointed and a jumble of other excuses that cater to fear. The truth is, we can do it, we can have it, we can become it if we start believing that our longings are our purpose. We have to follow those nudges to become what we are meant to become.
One of the craziest things I ever achieved was going to Argentina by myself to meet the man I fell in love with online. I had been to other states in the U.S. but flying alone wasn't something I had ever done before. Leaving my country was one of the scariest ideas I could think up at the time, the second scariest was boarding a plane alone. It seems silly in retrospect, but the truth was that I was terrified.
Luckily, my drive was far bigger than my fear (it's amazing what love can do) and I became determined to make it happen. At some point along the way, close to two weeks before my flight was scheduled, I still didn't have my passport. Someone in my life at the time thought it would be wise to tell me that there was no way it would make it to me in time. For about three minutes I was panicked, and then I reached down inside me, past my fears and doubts, into that determined want and made myself start to write sentences of affirmation. I wrote until I was sure I was going to make this happen. I went to Argentina just as I had planned and it was one of the greatest feelings of my life.
This is what it takes to make our dreams come true. A want so strong that no matter what anyone says to us we will know the truth is that we'll make, be, or do whatever we deeply desire.
This video has been a useful tool, much like the sentences of affirmation were. It's not a magical talisman, it won't do the work for you as you daydream and wish without ever taking a step in the darkness. It will help to remind you what you want, why you want it and what it feels like to have it if you will allow it to. In that you might just be taking a step toward your desire and showing the universe you are ready to take action, ready to believe, and are too hungry for it to allow it to sit on a shelf in the back of your mind. Go. Make. It. Happen.
